Christmas Party! Millitimed Vaguely to "Sometime Around Christmas"
Anne and Amy have been very very busy over the last week or so, transforming their usually simple white room into the perfect place for a Christmas party.
There are garlands of holly and balsam strung around the room, leading away from the wreath between the windows (and there's a grumpy looking crow, perched in the middle of the wreath, trying to figure out how to get the red ribbon from around his neck). A Christmas tree, candles ablaze, stands in one corner, with presents tucked under its branches.
Welcome, dear friend, to Anne and Amy's Christmas party.

Re: Refreshments and Chatter
And yay! Cake! "I'm glad you like the cake," she beams, "I made it myself."
Brag? Phil? Well...yeah.
Re: Refreshments and Chatter
Actually, what Trina makes most of all is a phone call to a place that delivers.
"Trust me when I tell you that you not marrying into my family is a good thing. But, two hundred years, huh? When and where are you from?"
Re: Refreshments and Chatter
She shrugs, "I'm from Canada. Bolingbroke, Nova Scotia, to be precise. And 1881. I seem to recall Logan saying he was from after the year 2000. It must be a very different world."
Re: Refreshments and Chatter
Trina looks highly amused. "And Logan is from 2005, so not that far after 2000, unless he's trying to impress you by being all Neo or man of the future or something."
Phil will be forgiven for not having understoof a bit of that.
Re: Refreshments and Chatter
She takes another sip of her punch, glad that she's able to enjoy it before Anne finds out and gets upset about it.
"And Logan certainly didn't seem like a...future man to me. I mean, there are obviously differences, but none so great that they couldn't be surmounted by a pleasant conversation."
And mockery. Mockery is trans-generational.
Re: Refreshments and Chatter
She also has no idea how to live without air conditioning, automatic transmission, first class air travel, hair driers, pizza delivery, and "the help."
"A pleasant conversation? With my brother? Good luck."
Re: Refreshments and Chatter
She raises an eyebrow, "I suppose we manage well enough. I'm a dreadful cook myself, but many people, like Anne, are quite good at it."
"And Logan can be very pleasant. A bit sarcastic and silly, perhaps," she laughs, "but I can hardly complain about that myself."
Re: Refreshments and Chatter
"Well, if he's being pleasant, he probably wants something."
It's the reason she and Logan are nice to each other, most of the time.
"So you're a friend of Anne's?"
Re: Refreshments and Chatter
Take it from someone whose motives are usually fairly transparent.
"Anne is my dear, dear friend. I knew from the instant that I met her that we were destined to be friends. You know how that just happens sometimes."
Re: Refreshments and Chatter
Trina refills her punch cup and looks at it thoughtfully.
"But Canada sounds nice. And Anne seems nice. And so do you."
Re: Refreshments and Chatter
Phil sips her own punch.
"Canada is nice. And so is Anne. And thank you!" She grins, "Besides, how can anyone expect to make any friends if one isn't nice to people. I'm nice to absolutely everybody, which is perhaps why I have so many friends myself."
Re: Refreshments and Chatter
Not at Christmas.
Probably.
"It's very important to have friends," says Trina. "So, Phil, what do you do in Bolingbroke?"
Re: Refreshments and Chatter
She laughs, "Oh, I drive my mother crazy by refusing to get married. My father calls me his "social butterfly" and I suppose that's the most apt description of what I 'do' as it were. It's ever so much fun, though I shall be off to college next year. Hopefully I shall have plenty of butterflying to do there as well."
She takes another sip of her punch, "And what is it you do, Trina?"
