Christmas Party! Millitimed Vaguely to "Sometime Around Christmas"

Anne and Amy have been very very busy over the last week or so, transforming their usually simple white room into the perfect place for a Christmas party.

There are garlands of holly and balsam strung around the room, leading away from the wreath between the windows (and there's a grumpy looking crow, perched in the middle of the wreath, trying to figure out how to get the red ribbon from around his neck). A Christmas tree, candles ablaze, stands in one corner, with presents tucked under its branches.

Welcome, dear friend, to Anne and Amy's Christmas party.

Placidly, "Well, yeah, she is, though I think that might be a toddler thing in general. Namely, we're not focusing our attention on her at that exact moment, so she feels the need to draw it back upon herself."

...'Dora's been reading a lot in the past year or so. Clearly.

He passes a hand over his eyes. "That was the part I was most looking forward to."

"Well, fortunately," Nymphadora continues reassuringly, "there'll be two of them, and two of us. See how well it works out?"

"You're not counting Hiss. I think he should be counted."

"Yes, but Hiss won't be contributing to the decibel level in such circumstances. He's menacing, but in a quiet sort of way."

"I'll never be convinced that he doesn't make her odder, just by staring."

"...Well, there is that."

The corners of her eyes crinkle as she laughs, and then leans up once more to kiss him.

"We'll be fine. Right?"

His lips brush her cheek.

"I love you."

That's all that matters.

That, and he can be damn stern when he wants to be.

"And I love you." Another kiss, firmer this time. "Now. What say we go dig up some more of this gingerbread? It's calling my name. I can hear it."

Bernard rolls his eyes good-naturedly.

"What Her Majesty wants..."

And with that, Bernard is tugged off towards the refreshment table once more, his wife chattering cheerfully as they go.
