Christmas Party! Millitimed Vaguely to "Sometime Around Christmas"

Anne and Amy have been very very busy over the last week or so, transforming their usually simple white room into the perfect place for a Christmas party.

There are garlands of holly and balsam strung around the room, leading away from the wreath between the windows (and there's a grumpy looking crow, perched in the middle of the wreath, trying to figure out how to get the red ribbon from around his neck). A Christmas tree, candles ablaze, stands in one corner, with presents tucked under its branches.

Welcome, dear friend, to Anne and Amy's Christmas party.

Bernard grins and steps forward to kiss Anne's cheek.

"Wouldn't miss it. Merry Christmas."

"Merry Christmas, Bernard."

She steps back and smiles at him.

"Gil's around here, somewhere, and I know he'll be happy to see you. Tonks, you're looking positively radiant!"

"Cheers, Anne," she says, grinning too. "And can I just say, it all looks lovely. A very homey sort of Christmas-y feeling."

"Well, that was half the point," she says, grinning back.

"Since Amy can't get home, and I only just could, we just decided to put our minds to it and make it as cozy and as perfect as we could."

A rueful look at the wreath.

"Peter Aurelious doesn't seem too happy about it, though."

Bernard follows her gaze and snorts.

"Jesus. Everyone has a pet, don't they?"

"Well, they aren't really pets, persay..."

Peter Aurelious eyes them all with great dignity.

"Qwa."

"Familiars?" she suggests, laughing. "Or just companions, too. I suppose that works. Also, who are you to talk?" she asks her husband, snickering. Then she turns back to Anne. "We've got a dog, two snakes, and a demon bunny," she explains. "Our daughter's got a bit of a thing for animals."

Anne laughs.

"What a household! I'm amazed there's any room in your apartment for you three, along with all of those."

She eyes Peter Aurelious.

"At least he doesn't swear at anyone. I have a friend who owns a parrot that was a gift from his brother the sailor, and the things that bird says! I'd like to wash it's mouth out with soap."

"...I'll have you know that only one of those animals was my fault. I take no blame for the demon bunny, and I blame Lucifer in my head every time he darkens my door."

A pause.

"And I'd like to meet that parrot. Bet I could teach it a thing or two."

"Oh, he'd like you," Anne says archly.

"He's very fond of red hair."

"Sounds like a match made in heaven," says Tonks, amused. "Thankfully, none of our pets make a whole lot of noise. Well, except Ellie when she's antsy or wound up."

"Which one is Ellie?"

She really hopes it isn't the snake.

"The dog."

The dog who got excited by God knows what, spizzed out, and pissed on the living room floor yesterday.

"She's charming, but I suspect brain damage on occasion."

Anne looks a little worried.

"Goodness, I do hope not."

She really is such an excellent target for teasing.

Tonks pokes her husband bemusedly. "Don't mind him, he's just being silly. Ellie's a lovely little thing, but she is very... dog-like, on occasion."

She looks 'round at the others waiting to greet Anne.

"Oh! Looks like you've got other company to see to, Anne. We'll be around -- and thanks again for the kind invitation."

Grinning, Tonks kisses her cheek. "And merry Christmas."

Anne waves at them cheerfully.

"Thank you! Enjoy the party!"
