Keep Meg & Amy From Cooking Party

There are streamers over the door and glitter is flung generously (if randomly) about over countertops. (To be on the safe side, the girls have used edible glitter, like that on the cookies they handed out as invitations.)

There are large signs posted above the stoves and ovens with picture of Meg and Amy and the words "NOT ALLOWED" in large and bright red letters below them.

It can only mean one thing.

There's a party in the kitchen, and someone has got to keep these girls from cooking.

I have a brother - an actual brother. Well, half-brother, *Meg admits, a little sheepishly.*

But I haven't seen him in ages - and I never did get to know him very well, even when he was around. I know Kitty - my cousin - much better.

"I think that's all right," says Amy. "There's a lot to be said for the family you choose."

That's true enough, *Meg says, and glances around, with a grin.*

And I chose a lot of these people here.

"There are so many excellent people here to choose, you know," she says, brightly.

"And so many of them can cook."

This, *Meg says, seriously,* is always an important qualification, in choosing your family. Or friends, or whatever.

*Her glance goes over to where Andrew is chopping up mushrooms on the stove, and she grins.*
